Ellington said that antifreeze leakage occurred as a result of the accident. He and Farmville Fire Department Chief Dean Farmer said that the Farmville Fire Department responded for cleanup.

Ellington said the cause of the accident appeared to be one vehicle that failed to stop at a red light. He said the driver of the vehicle, Rejoice Smith, 38, of Lynchburg was charged with failure to stop for a red light, driving with a suspended license and not having insurance.
