Weather report: projections range from 3 to 11 inches

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch for the Prince Edward, Buckingham and Cumberland area. Snow is expected for Sunday with ranges between 3 to 6 inches, with probabilistic data citing areas that could see up to 11 inches.
According to the winter storm watch, “Snow which will be heavy at times. Snow is expected to occasionally mixing with sleet especially in the east near Interstate 95.”
Accumulations of 3 to 6 inches of wet snow is expected.
Snowfall is expected Sunday mainly after 1 p.m. with chance of precipitation at 80 percent. Snow is expected to continue into Sunday night, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the NWS.
Probabilistic totals in the Town of Farmville Farmville, Prospect and Rice range from 4-10 inches, while probabilistic totals from Green Bay, Darlington Heights and Hampden-Sydney range from 5-10 inches.
Probabilistic totals for Dillwyn range from 5-11 inches.
Probabilistic totals for Trents Mill range from 2-7 inches whereas Cumberland ranges from 3-7 inches.
A hazardous weather outlook for the region, according to the NWS, reports that “the complex low pressure will cross the southeastern states Sunday then exit off the Carolina coast Monday as cold surface high pressure extends in from the north. At this time, there is increasing confidence of accumulating snow, especially west of I-95 and south of I-64 Sunday and Sunday night. Exact accumulations will depend of the track of the storm system, however everyone across inland Virginia and Northampton county North Carolina should pay attention to future forecasts of this storm system.”
