Telling the Christmas story

The Farmville Church of Christ again re-enacted the Christmas story, the coming of Jesus Christ, across nine scenes featuring live actors and animals that could be viewed outside the church’s building at 1401 Milnwood Road this past weekend. Rachel Price, who handles characters and costumes, said the church has been doing the live nativity presentation for at least 15 years. It started with the one, simple nativity scene pictured above and grew from there. Now, the retelling involves nine setups that feature a combined total of at least 35 characters. Some actors are from the church, others are friends of members and some are people from the area who simply wanted to be involved. “It’s really a community effort,” Price said.
The live nativity re-enactment wraps around the church building. In chronological order, the scenes are as follows: The Angel Gabriel and Mary, Mary and Elizabeth, The Shepherds, The Tax Collector, The Village, The Inn, Herod, The Wisemen and The Nativity.
