The Farmville Police Department recently participated in No Shave November to raise money for cancer research. On Nov. 1, General Order #303 was temporarily suspended by Chief A.Q. “Andy” Ellington, right, and officers who donated $50 were allowed to grow their beards for the entire month. An invite was also made to citizens and together they raised $790 for cancer research. “Cancer has affected all of us in some way and we hope that the money raised will help find the cure.” said Officer Tim Holtz, left, the programs coordinator. Holtz and Ellington presented a check to Kendall Brown, middle, with the American Cancer Society.
