The yoga academy in Buckingham is holding a silent retreat that begins Friday and ends Tuesday.

The purpose of the retreat, according to the organization website, is “to gather the spiritual wisdom and strength needed to face the day-to-day surprises in life with the guidance of your own inner light.”

The event will provide instruction in pranayama (yogic breathing techniques), Hatha Yoga for focus and rejuvenation, a presentation from senior sannyasi (monk) Swami Gurucharanananda, and numerous opportunities for silence and meditation.
