The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield, which includes Prince Edward and Cumberland, issued a flood watch beginning 6 p.m. Friday and ending 6 p.m. Saturday.

The NWS in Blacksburg, which includes Buckingham County, is calling for between 1-5 inches of rain.

“Storm total rainfall is expected to range from 1 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts possible,” the NWS in Wakefield cited. NWS officials added that runoff from rain, in addition to melting snow, could “cause flooding along streams, creeks and eventually rivers, as well as urban areas.”
