Event delays, closures

Below is a comprehensive list of all events that are delayed, cancelled or closed as a result of Sunday’s winter storm. Stay for updates as they appear:

Buckingham County Public Schools, Cumberland County Public Schools and Prince Edward County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Piedmont Senior Resources Area Agency on Aging’s friendship cafes in Prince Edward will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Longwood University will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Cumberland County administrative offices and transfer stations will open on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

Longwood University will close Tuesday.

Prince Edward County Public Schools, Buckingham County Public Schools and Cumberland County Public Schools will close Tuesday.

Buckingham County Board of Supervisors has postponed its meeting scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. to Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. The Buckingham County Planning Commission is set to hold a hearing Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.

Piedmont Senior Resources’ (PSR) office will be closed Monday.

Cumberland County administrative offices and transfer stations are closed Monday.

Buckingham County Public Schools, Prince Edward County Public Schools and Cumberland County Public Schools will close Monday, Dec. 10.

Piedmont Senior Resources’ (PSR) friendship cafe in Farmville at the SCOPE Center will be closed Dec. 10. PSR officials said Prince Edward County home delivered meal routes were delivered Friday in advance of the winter storm, so there will be no deliveries Monday.

All of Southside Virginia Community College’s locations will be closed Monday, Dec. 10.

Longwood University will close Monday, Dec. 10.

On-campus facilities such as Dorrill Dining Hall, Upchurch University Center, Health & Fitness Center,  Greenwood Library and
the University Health Center will also be closed Monday.

According to an announcement from the university, students who remain on campus and live in Lancer Park and Longwood Village are asked to move their cars to designated areas to allow snow plows to clear lots:

Lancer Park – relocate vehicles to the Freshmen Parking Lot Area
Longwood Village – relocate vehicles to the visitor parking lot located in front of the clubhouse

Cumberland County’s Christmas Parade, initially scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m., has been postponed to the following Sunday, Dec. 16.

The Robert Russa Moton Museum Holiday Social, scheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m., was postponed indefinitely due to the storm.

Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Library closed Sunday due to anticipated inclement weather.
