Bowman is currently held without bond. Officials at Piedmont Regional Jail (PRJ) said in an email Monday that Bowman was taken into the jail’s custody Nov. 28.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Megan Clark, it does not appear that Bowman nor the victim knew one another.

“The victim is a juvenile, and to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s knowledge, a stranger to Bowman,” Clark said in a statement. “Bowman’s matters are currently set in Prince Edward County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for a preliminary hearing.”

Clark said Bowman had a previous conviction at the Prince Edward County Circuit Court for distribution of a Schedule III controlled substance.

The date for the preliminary hearing was not available. Clark said when cases involves a juvenile, the court proceedings are closed to the public.
