Brown arrested for robbery, assault

Police arrested a Buckingham County resident Thursday who is believed to have stolen a vehicle, robbed a convenience store and assaulted a clerk.
Police said the suspect was positively identified as Marquis Antoine Brown, of Buckingham.
A report from the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office cited that at 6:48 a.m. Thursday, the office received a call for a robbery that had occurred at the Midway Market, located at 4659 Glenmore Road, Scottsville on Route 20.
“Sheriff’s Deputies and State Police responded to the store and interviewed the victim,” the report cited. “Law enforcement began watching the surveillance footage which showed a male subject lean across the counter and punch the clerk in the head which knocked him to the ground.”
“He then reached over the counter and grabbed cash from the counter which totaled $242.00,” the reported continued. “He then fled the store in a stolen 2007 Gold GMC Yukon which had been stolen the night before from a residence in Buckingham County.”
Police said warrants were obtained for Brown which included felony grand larceny of a motor vehicle; felony robbery; two counts of misdemeanor credit card fraud; misdemeanor destruction of property, misdemeanor assault and battery and misdemeanor petit larceny.
Police said Brown is currently being held at Piedmont Regional Jail.
