Buckingham FFA is holding fruit sales through Nov. 19. A variety of citrus fruits, pineapples, apples and pears, as well as an assortment of nuts, are for sale. Cedar Baptist Church at 3932 Bell Road would like to welcome everyone to their annual Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. followed by a Thanksgiving service.
Join the Chamber of Commerce on Dec. 9 from 4-8 p.m. on a Christmas House Tour. Visit five beautiful homes, to include: Amy Moss Lawhorne, Travis and Sarah Hicks, Kim Crump and Troy Wooten, Mike and Brenda Farrish, and Timothy and Jin Hae Fanter. As an added bonus visit the Adams Museum featuring the collections of Spencer and the late Winnie Adams. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Moss Motor Company and Special Touch Design Florist.
The Buckingham Chamber of Commerce will have a Casserole Contest at its next monthly meeting on Nov. 20. The dish can be a main entree or dessert casserole. Each dish is numbered, and after the members enjoy, they choose their favorite. The members’ casserole with the most votes will get their 2019 membership as the prize. The meeting will be held at the VFW Hall near Buckingham Courthouse on Route 60 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Central Virginia Community Health Center will be closed for exercise and use of the gym on Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The gym will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 24, for free use of the gym all day. Kickboxing continues on Mondays at 6 p.m., beginner exercise class on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and Yoga at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Weight Watchers meetings are held on Thursdays at 2:45 p.m. For more information call (434) 581-3271, extension 10601.
Space is still available for six more participants in 4-H Jelly Making activity for ages 8 and up on Friday, Dec. 14, at the Buckingham 4-H office from 3:40-7 p.m. Participants will be making several jars of homemade jelly or jam. Call (434) 969-4261 to register.
Christmas Camp for ages 5-13 is Dec. 1-2 at Holiday Lake 4-H Center. Registration deadline is Nov. 16. This year the focus is all-around ornithology, or the study of birds. Do such things such as dissecting owl pellets, bird watching, making Christmas treats and constructing decorations from recycled materials. It is always a great time.
