Ralph William Hemp of Buckingham County passed away on October 18, 2018 at The Woodland. He was born February 24, 1932, in Rockbridge County, Virginia, the son of the late William David Hemp and Alice Mays Hemp. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Hemp Whitus.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 -1956 with three years spent in England. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 1980 then worked twenty years at Ellington Energy in Farmville. Ralph enjoyed tending his farm where he loved the animals and land.

He is survived by a sister, Rebecca Hemp Whitus of Green Bay, a niece, four nephews and a special caregiver along with his many animals.

Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Monday, October 22 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.
