Nationally known bulb grower to speak locally

The Redbud Garden Club of Cumberland County will have Brent Heath of Brent and Becky’s Bulbs in Gloucester as the guest speaker Oct. 23. The lecture and PowerPoint presentation will be held at Piedmont Church of Christ, 1405 N. Main St., Farmville at 7 p.m. This event is being co-sponsored by other garden clubs including Buckingham/Dillwyn, Cartersville, Cumberland, Gray Carter, Heritage, Longwood, Nora Lancaster, Ruth Adams, Weyanoke and the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners.
Heath is a nationally known speaker whose topic will be “Bulbs as Companion Plants” in the three seasons of the garden which involves combining bulbs, perennials, annuals, ground covers and flowering shrubs. He has been a featured guest on National Television programs including “The Victory Garden,” “Karen’s Garden” as well as ‘Martha Stewart’.
Heath is a third generation bulb grower and co-owner with his wife, Becky, of Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, a wholesale/retail mail-order flower bulb catalogue and website business that provides numerous types of bulbs to many botanical gardens, cities, universities, landscape designers and discriminating gardeners across the country. The Heath’s co-authored two books: Daffodils for North American Gardens and Tulips for North American Gardens. They each have over 300 color photographs, are marvelous sources of inspiration for the novice, and are valuable references for the professional.
