Four individuals over the span of 10 days in two counties have been arrested for charges of rape and aggravated sexual battery.
Jimmy Lee Dedmond, 31, of Farmville and Keith Zachary-Owen Satterwhite, 21, of Farmville were arrested Oct. 14. Both Dedmond and Satterwhite were charged with rape.
Farmville Police Department Chief A. Q. “Andy” Ellington said, “The case is still under investigation at this time,” Ellington said. “But yes, they are connected.” The incident reportedly occurred Oct. 5 in the area of Fourth Ave. extension.
Ellington said the individuals are currently at Piedmont Regional Jail, held without bond.
Ellington and Longwood University confirmed that the incident is not connected with a sexual assault investigation that allegedly occurred at an on-campus residence Oct. 6.
“Jimmy Dedmond and Keith Satterwhite were each charged with one count of rape, in violation of Virginia Code Section 18.2-61,” Prince Edward County Commonwealth’s Attorney Megan Clark said. “They were advised of their right to counsel Oct. 15, 2018. Dedmond is being represented by Kevin Bailey and Satterwhite is being represented by Kemper Beasley. A preliminary hearing date has not been set at this point. A status hearing is set for Oct. 24, 2018, in Prince Edward County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. The victim in these matters was a juvenile at the time of the alleged offenses.”
Captain Dennis Ownby with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Samuel Edward Davis, of Farmville, and Kevin Samuels, of Cumberland, were separately charged for unrelated incidents.
Davis was charged with rape: intercourse by force/threat/intimidation. Ownby said the incident occurred in 2016 with a 15-year-old child. Ownby said Davis was not a parent. Ownby said Davis is being held without bond.
Samuels, Ownby said, was a parent to the victim, a 15-year-old child. Ownby said the incident occurred in 2017. Samuels was charged with aggravated sexual battery: parent/etc with child 13-17.
Ownby said both individuals were indicted by the Cumberland County Circuit Court Sept. 25 and happened to be arrested on the same day, Oct. 4.
