Buckingham 4-H Livestock Club holds kickoff meeting

The Buckingham 4-H Livestock Club held its kickoff meeting Monday, Oct. 15. Over 30 people attended the hot dog supper and informational meeting. Dr. Aminata Kalley, from Agrarian Veterinary Services, was the guest speaker who educated the group on livestock feeding, parasites and remedies, and general overall health. Buckingham Triad will be meeting on Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Route 60 in Buckingham County. A major purpose of Triad is to develop, expand, and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for older community members.
Concord Baptist Church, located at the intersection of Francisco and Deer Run Road, is hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday. Starting at 3 p.m., come enjoy outside games, bouncy house, popcorn stand and much more. Stew will be served around 5 p.m. Trunk or treat begins around 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Make some homemade jelly or jam and be just in time for the holidays at this jelly making workshop sponsored by the Buckingham Cooperative Extension Office. Workshops are offered on Friday, Dec. 7, or 14, (choose one), from 3:40 – 7 p.m. at the Buckingham Agriculture Center for youth ages eight and up. Space is limited to eight youth per session. Experience the joy of camp during a fun weekend of activities, recreation and special programs. The camp, called “Going Green,” will be held on Dec. 1-2, for youth ages 5-13 at Holiday Lake 4-H Center. Trained teen and adult leaders are also encouraged to attend. Call the Buckingham Extension Office at (434) 969-4261 to find out more about volunteering. Transportation is not provided.
The Buckingham Dillwyn Garden Club will meet on Nov. 5 at the Buckingham County Arts Center at 10 a.m. The topic will be making bows. Each attendee should bring their choice of ribbon(s).
Cedar Baptist Church at 3932 Bell Road is hosting “Trunk or Treat” Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The community is welcome.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension-Buckingham office is offering a free workshop about Setting Up and Maintaining a Limited Liability Company (LLC) on Nov. 7 from 1:30- 4:30 p.m. at the BARN located just west of Buckingham Court House at 11851 West James Anderson Highway. Learn about the insurance, tax and legal considerations for setting up and maintaining a limited liability company.
