Third Liberty Baptist welcomes new pastor

Third Liberty Baptist Church in New Canton has been without a pastor since the Rev. Roderick Galloway’s retirement. On Sunday, July 15, after a long search process, the members happily voted in Rev. Kippy Lundy of Prince George County as their new pastor.

He has been an inspiration and a blessing to the congregation over the past year. He and his wife, Cynthia and their daughter, Cierra, are truly loved by the members and the congregation looks forward to having him as their spiritual leader for many years to come. He is welcomed not only to the church but to the county. The Buckingham Chamber of Commerce Christmas House Tour will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 with the time to be decided depending on how many homes are on the tour. Spears Mountain Baptist Church will be hosting a community back-to-school picnic Saturday at 4 p.m. Hot dogs, potato chips, baked beans and soft drinks will be provided. This will be held rain or shine indoors at the church, located in Western Buckingham County at 106 Meadow Creek Road, Gladstone. The church’s pastor, the Rev. Robert C. Wilson, welcomes all area children and parents to come and enjoy this time of fellowship.

Join the Buckingham Library on Saturday for an ice cream social. Find out how ice cream works, the history of ice cream, with much eating and enjoying of ice cream. The movie Sandlot will be shown at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Need something for the younger children to do now that the older children have returned to school? Join the Buckingham Library at 11 a.m. Friday for the movie, The Aristocats.

Spreading God’s Gifts will be having a spaghetti dinner Saturday at 5 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Highway 20. Dinner is by donation and includes spaghetti, salad, dessert and beverage. Three gospel singing groups will provide the music ministry for the evening, including Old Time Gospel Singers from Crewe, a trio from Wesleyan Methodist Church, and Floyd Reid with Worm Patterson. Everyone is welcome.
