Rotarians at work

The Rotary Club of Farmville tossed on “Rotarians at Work” shirts and added siding to a local Habitat for Humanity home, working alongside the home’s future residents.
The “Birdhouse Build” is a new home construction partnership build between Habitat, the Eagles of Prince Edward County Public Schools and the Falcons of Fuqua School.
With school out for the summer and workers in short supply, Rotary stepped in to keep the project on schedule. The contribution was equivalent to a $1,140 in-kind donation.
Rotary, the world’s oldest service organization, is made up of business and professional leaders whose goal is to serve the community and promote high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
The Farmville Rotary Club meets each Thursday, with meeting options at noon and 5:30 p.m., at Charley’s Waterfront Café.
