The Charlotte County Dixie Boys Jr. 13U All-Star baseball team, which also featured some talent from Prince Edward County, won the 2018 Dixie Boys Jr. 13U State Tournament and also represented Virginia in August at the 13U World Series in Bossier City, Louisiana. There were only two teams in the Dixie Boys Jr. Division for Virginia this year, so Charlotte County had to take on the Bedford American All-Star team in a double-elimination tournament at Rocky Mount on July 15. Charlotte won the first game 20-0 in a mercy rule-shortened contest that ran five innings that morning. In the afternoon game, Bedford piled up some runs, but Charlotte was still able to achieve a definitive victory, prevailing 17-7 in five innings. Charlotte went 0-2 at the World Series, but the boys represented Virginia with great sportsmanship, dignity and respect for the game.
