Blackburn sworn in as interim clerk

Circuit Court Judge the Honorable Donald C. Blessing, of the 10th Judicial Circuit, swore in Chief Deputy Diane Blackburn as interim Circuit Court Clerk during a ceremony in July.
As previously reported in The Herald, Malcolm A. Booker, Jr., longtime Buckingham Circuit Court Clerk retired July 1. Blackburn has worked with the county circuit court as deputy clerk and chief deputy clerk for 31 years, beginning in 1987.
Upon the retirement of Malcolm A. Booker, Jr., by statue, his chief deputy was appointed to serve as clerk on the interim basis. The Board of Supervisors voted to hold the special election for clerk Nov. 6. Blackburn will hold the position of clerk until then.
