He said he will continue to live in the county.

Scales said he is proud that Cumberland County High School is fully accredited and that the graduation rates fall between 92-94 percent.

Division Superintendent Dr. Amy Griffin announced Scales’ departure during the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors meeting July 10.

“We’re sorry to be losing him, but we’re happy for him personally,” Griffin said.

A special called meeting scheduled for Monday by the Cumberland County School Board that would potentially determine a succeeding principal for Cumberland County High School has been postponed.

Division Superintendent Dr. Amy Griffin said the rescheduled meeting will be announced as soon as possible.
