On Saturday, June 30, more than 80 descendants of Samuel Dabney Burke and Elizabeth Greenhill Leigh gathered at Burke’s Tavern in Nottoway County for a family reunion. Burke’s Tavern is a private residence on the national historical register and is a Virginia historical landmark. The owners graciously gave family members tours of the authentically restored historical tavern. Family members gathered from Virginia and surrounding states as well as from Vancouver Island, British Columbia and Puerta Vallarta, Mexico.
