The Buckingham County Coach Pitch All-Star team fell 14-4 to the Goochland All-Stars in a mercy rule-shortened game Monday, eliminating the squad from the 2018 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach Pitch State Tournament at Gene Dixon Sr. Memorial Park in Dillwyn. Leading up to Monday’s game, the Buckingham squad had gone 2-1. It opened its state tourney run with an 11-5 victory over the Bedford Metro All-Stars on Friday. Then it fell 17-8 to Goochland on Saturday before rebounding for a 14-9 win against the Emporia-Greensville All-Stars on Sunday. Pictured above, Jaylon Hurt connects for a hit during Sunday’s game.
