B&B, event facility approved

Members of the Buckingham County Planning Commission voted to recommend a proposed bed-and-breakfast and events facility to the board of supervisors during the commission’s Monday meeting.
The meeting for the special use permit with conditions began 7 p.m. at the county administration building at 13380 W. James Anderson Highway.
Planning and Zoning Administrator Rebecca Cobb said the vote by the commission was six in favor of recommending approval, one voting in opposition and one commission member was absent.
Cobb said Commissioner Sammy Smith opposed and Commissioner Royce Charlton was absent.
According to a public notice of the hearing, the proposed facility is located at Old Thirteen Road on Route 607, off West James Anderson Highway. The property is approximately 135 acres.
The applicant is Cynthia Henshaw.
The proposed facility would be a bed-and-breakfast and host events, social gatherings, even archery tournaments.
“If approved the events held will be weddings, receptions, graduations, reunions, guests speakers, traditional archery camps/tournaments,” the notice cited.
