The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7p.m. in the Cumberland County Circuit Courtroom.
The Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a gun raffle on Wednesday, July 4. First prize will be a Ruger American 243 Belt Action Raffle, second prize will be a Remington 870 Express 3 . 12 gauge and third prize will be a Savage 93R 17 HMR Belt Action Rifle. You can get your tickets from Napa in Cumberland or any Auxiliary member.
Payne Memorial UMC located at 1 Stoney Point Road, Cumberland will be hosting a free luncheon and devotional speaker each month from noon – 1 p.m. The next scheduled event will be held on Wednesday, with guest speaker the Rev. Lewis Brandt speaking on the topic “Who am I? Questions of Identity.” Various churches and individuals in the community provide the meals each month.
Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following people. Gladys Absher of Dillwyn and Bradley Carter of North Carolina both on Friday, Billy Adams of Farmville on Sunday, William Bradby of Farmville on Monday and Dorothy Shumaker of Dillwyn and the Rev. Gene Johnson of Buckingham both having birthdays on Tuesday.
Happy anniversary wishes go out this week to Joe and Gladys Fulcher of Prospect on Friday and Thomas and Eleanor Newton of New Canton on Thursday, June 14,.
A speedy recovery is sent out to all those who are sick and shut-in. Cedar Baptist Church located 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, welcomes everyone to their Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday, through Thursday, from 6-9 p.m. each night for ages two through high school. A large crowd attended the open house and dinner for Tyler and Casey Ingle of Cumberland on Saturday, June 2, as they welcomed family, friends and neighbors to their new home.
