JUNE 9

2018 SAFETY AND SECURITY PROGRAM, 9 a.m. – noon sponsored by The Rocky Mount Baptist Church and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to be held at the church. Focus will be mass shooting, active shooters, hostage and robbery situation, special safety procedures and much more. Wear comfortable clothes. Questions, contact Deacon Jeffrey Minter.

COMMUNITY YARD SALE, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. sponsored by Cumberland Community Cares to support Delma’s Pantry, at 1550 Anderson Highway, behind the Cooperative Extension office in Cumberland. Spaces are available. Delma’s Pantry will be hosting an open house and registration during the yard sale. Call (804) 517-8454 for more information.

FARMER’S MARKET AT PAYNE MEMORIAL METHODIST, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Chicken will be available for sale. Bicyclists will be coming through to visit. Lots of different events will take place. If interested in setting up booths, contact Lisa Davis at (804) 387-2356.

PANCAKE SUPPER, 5-7:30 p.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist Church, 947 Trents Mill Road, Cumberland. Proceeds benefit the summer mission trip. Plates are sold by donation.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP CONFERENCE, 9 a.m. at Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. The speaker will be Sister Melvin Lovelace of Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church, Monne. All are welcome.

QUARTERLY MEETING, noon at New Hope Baptist Church of Keysville. All members are asked to be in attendance.

RAINBOW TEA, 3 p.m. sponsored by the Gill Hill Baptist Youth, 1427 County Line Road, Keysville. Come help celebrate.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6:30-8 p.m. at Arvon Baptist Church for kids kindergarten through fifth grade. A meal will be available from 6-6:30 p.m. There will be a kickoff cookout Sunday, June 8, beginning at 5 p.m. All events are free and open to the community.

ANNUAL SPRING CHICKEN BARBEQUE, noon at Glenmore Volunteer Fire Department, 179 Firehouse Road, Buckingham. You may pre-order by calling (434) 969-2317, Sunday only, from 9-11 a.m. All proceeds benefit the fire department.

CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the JHT Combined Voices of Jericho Baptist Church, 615 Franklin St. Special guests will be The New Bethel Male Chorus and St. Andrews Mass Choir. All are welcome. The Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor, III is senior pastor.

21ST CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of The New Store Inspirational Choir. Come out and help us celebrate. Different guest groups to perform. All are welcome.

JUNE RALLY, 10 a.m. at Chief Cornerstone Baptist Church. Pastor Eddie Giles of Holy Trinity Baptist, Dillwyn, will be the guest preacher along with the Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir of Cumberland. All are welcome. Dinner will be served.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6-9 p.m. nightly at Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, for ages 2 through high school. There will also be an adult class beginning at 6:15 each night. All are welcome.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Thomas Chapel UMC, 1313 Cartersville Road. Dinner from 5:30-6 p.m. and program 6-8:30 p.m. All are welcome.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6:30 – 9 p.m. at Baptist Union Baptist Church, 125 Baptist Union Road, Dillwyn. Theme: Follow the Leader. There will be Bible class, music, crafts, snacks, and recreation for ages preschool to adult. All are welcome.

FREE LAY RESCUER TRAINING, 10-11:30 a.m. at Crossroads, 214 Bush River Drive, Farmville. Learn how to respond to an opioid overdose emergency with administration of naloxone.

4-H DEMO DAY, 9 a.m. – noon at SVCC. John H. Daniel Campus in Keysville. 4-H Demo Day will explore healthy eating and offer summer crafts.

RANGER CHALLENGE, 1-3:30 p.m. sponsored by The Friends of Twin Lakes State Park. This event is open to youth 14 and younger with an adult partner. Teams will compete in various competitions. Prizes will be awarded at 4 p.m. Parent may participate in more than one team. Register at the sport of choice on the day of the event. The rain date is June 17.

ROUTES OF RHYTHM MUSIC TRAIL, 7 p.m. at Bear Creek Hall featuring Pete Mont. The event is free. Daily parking fees apply. Light refreshments available.

JUNE EXTRAVAGANZA, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Cartersville Volunteer Rescue Squad building, 1667 Cartersville Road. Yard sale/craft fair, coffee and breakfast and a chicken barbecue meal will be available.
