The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Circuit Courtroom.
Special happy anniversary wishes go out this week to Wayne and Bonnie Williams of Arvonia.
The Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department Benefit held Saturday evening May 12 at the Cumberland County Elementary School Cafetorium was a great success. A total of $1,116 was raised. Mike Yoder and the Oak Hill Quartet of Cumberland and Smokey Wilson of Concord provided the special music.
Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following people. Susie Taylor of Buckingham on Monday, Kathy Midkiff of Dillwyn on Tuesday and Opal Pembelton of Powhatan May 23.
A speedy recovery is sent out to all those who are sick and shut-in.
The 40th annual Hudgins family reunion will be held on Sunday beginning at noon at the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland located at 281 Agee Lane. All family members are urged to attend and bring your favorite dish.
There will be a reunion luncheon for all former Gold Hill School of Arvonia faculty and staff planned for 11:30 a.m. on June 2 at Charley’s Waterfront Cafe in Farmville. The willow buffet menu can be seen on Charley’s Facebook page. All who attend will need to pay for their own meal. First Independent Baptist Church located at 2109 Anderson Hwy. of Powhatan will be hosting a Tent Revival Sunday through Friday. Services on Sunday will be at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday there will be dinner at 6 p.m. with services to begin at 7 p.m. Come and join us and experience a fresh move of God and old-time Worship.
