Memorial Day is a time to remember all the men and women who lost their lives in the service of their country and to honor all those who have or are serving. We are eternally thankful for all they gave. We are truly blessed to live in the United States of America.

The last day of May was yesterday so that means we are welcoming in June. Oh my, where has the time gone?

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Williamsburg Saturday to stay at the Williamsburg Lodge to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary, which was May 26.

Rev. Buddy Woodson and his aunt Mrs. Flora Bolt enjoyed lunch at the Huddle House Sunday following worship service at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton are home following a few days in Williamsburg attending the Eastern Star annual convention; they represented the Robert Morris Chapter. Those representing the Pamplin Chapter were Shirley and George Moore, Vincent and Betsy Faraci, and John and Joan Ewers. Shirley Moore was installed as Grand Martha for the coming year.

The Prospect Historical Society has raffle tickets for sale for an 8 by 12 shed (by Buggy Top); STIHL MS170 powersaw and $50 cash. Members of the society have tickets as well as Merk’s Place. The drawing will take place July 3.

There will be a dedication of a Historical sign on the Saturday at 3 p.m. for the Farmville/ Prince Edward cemetery at the entrance to the cemetery on Route 45. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Friends and neighbors continue to pray for Betty Meadows, Henry Shelton, Don Meadows and Betty Jean Bolt.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle welcomes you to worship with them each Sunday. William McGuire will be the guest speaker Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday. Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joe McCutchen will be with them Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville welcomes you to worship with them Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and each week Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

The Remnant Church welcomes you to worship with them Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer.

The church is located at 1825 E. Third St., Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building.

Concord Baptist Church at 12053 Francisco Road, Farmville welcomes you to their Sunday school at 10 a.m., Worship service at 11 a.m.

Concord Baptist will have special services Saturday starting at 6 p.m., the title “Discover Your Spiritual Gift.” The service will continue Sunday morning during the Sunday school hour and the worship service. Vacation Bible School for K-Fifth grade will be June 24-28. This is always an exciting time for children. Concord Baptist will host the Prospect Community Revival June 7-8 starting at 7 p.m.
