Jane B. Sprouse, 74, of Buckingham passed away peacefully, Tuesday May 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Born January 2, 1944, daughter of the late Thomas W, Sr. & Cecil Slaughter of Charlottesville. She was also preceded in death by her husband William C. “Pete” Sprouse, Sr. of Buckingham and her brother, Ronald P. Slaughter. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son William D. “Bill” Berryman, II and his wife Jane Berryman, her daughter, daughter Kelley B. Gentry of Buckingham and her brother Thomas W. Slaughter, Jr. Jane will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother to countless family members and dear friends.

Celebrating her life brings her family joy. They have been comforted with the outpouring of stories so many have shared. She touched so many lives and many called her “Momma Jane”. She made any person that showed up on her doorstep feel like they were special and touched their lives deeply. Her sweet smile, welcoming spirit and her ability to let each person feel her love with words of encouragement and hugs will truly be missed.

She gave graciously to her community and volunteered with the Buckingham Rescue Squad for many years.

As her days came to a close, her granddaughters, Kelsie Taylor and Kalie Gentry provided the best care for their Nana and as they said it so eloquently “She left us with the happiest memories and many lessons. God received an amazing angel today.”

A celebration of Jane’s life was held at a graveside service for the family and friends at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville, Va.
