Edward ‘Bootsie’ Hicks

Edward “Bootsie” Hicks, 89, of Dillwyn, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Bootsie was a talented woodworker, metal fabricator and craftsman. He was devoted to his family including those he considered a part of his second family at Kyanite Mining Corporation where he devoted over 50 years of his knowledge, innovativeness and expertise.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bettie; a son, Robbie Hicks and wife Connie; three sisters, Betty and Freddie Church, Edith Martin, and Lucy and Bill Evans; brother, Raymond Hicks and four grandchildren, Derick, Travis, Heather and Kevin Hicks; daughter-in-law, Denise Hicks Smith plus many nieces and nephews.
Bootsie was preceded in death by his son, Edward “Eddie” Hicks; his parents Noah and Mary Meadows Hicks and brothers, Billy Ray, Lonnie, Willie, Bennie, Linwood and Rhesa Hicks.
Funeral services were held, May 7, 2018 at Cedar Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Please make memorial contributions to the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department, the Buckingham Volunteer Rescue Squad or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
