MAY 18
RIBBON CUTTING, 5-7 p.m. at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library to celebrate the new public artwork in the library. The artwork was commissioned to be done by Monty Montgomery. The event is open to the public.
MOVIE NIGHT, 6 p.m. sponsored by the Rise Youth Group at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church, 1 Stoney Point Road, Cumberland. The movie will be “The Greatest Showman.” Admission is one canned food item per family. Refreshments will be available for purchase along with face painting and door prizes. All ages are welcome.

CHICKEN SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. hosted by the Prospect Fire Department Auxiliary at the firehouse, 45 Campbell Hill Road, Prospect. Carryout available. Everyone welcome.
CRUISE-IN, 4-8 p.m. of The Heart of Virginia Classic Car Club at the parking lot by the old Schewel’s parking lot and Tractor Supply. All classic and antiques are welcomed. No entrance fee. Drop by and check out all the cars and trucks. The cruise in is held the third Saturday each month through September.

PENTECOST CELEBRATION, 2 p.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church of Nations. Speaker will be Elder Justin Smith from Chicago. There will also be special guests from across the state and country. All are welcome.
21ST FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road. This year’s theme is “Unity.” Pastor Watson will deliver the morning message. All are welcome.
OPEN HOUSE AND COMMUNITY TEA, 2-5 p.m. Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville at 108 Yogaville Way, Buckingham. Refreshments, tour, yoga demonstrations, solar, sustainable solutions and more. All are welcome.

ANNUAL WOMEN’S DAY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. Baptist Union Baptist Church, 125 Baptist Union Road, Dillwyn. There will be several women ministries delivering the word of God in a sermonette. Theme for the day is “Bible cake” and our color scheme is yellow and white. Guest choir, second Liberty Baptist Church. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.
ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the New Witt Baptist Church senior choir will celebrate their anniversary. New Witt is located on Farmville Highway South (Meherrin Road). The Rev. Winston Bland is Pastor.

CUMBERLAND MOBILE PANTRY, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. every third Monday of the month at the Cumberland Community Center complex cafeteria. Available on a need basis to those residing in Cumberland County. Please have an ID and current Cumberland address if available when registering.
WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church, Tuggle Road, Farmville. We will enjoy board games and fellowship. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETING, 6-7:30 p.m. of LOC Family Services, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to help families and individuals who are being released from incarceration and are at medium to high risk of returning to jail or prison, at Prince Edward County Library.

LUNCHEON PROGRAM, 1 p.m. of the Military Officers Association of America at Riverside Cafe, Farmville. Capt. Jimmy Farley, of PEC Sheriff’s Dept, will discuss Project Lifesaver, a public safety program for missing persons who have wandered or become lost.

DEACONESS AND MISSIONARY MINISTRY, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road. Guest choir, New Creations. All members are asked to wear a color of the rainbow. All are welcome.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY DAY, 3 p.m. at Peaks Baptist Church, 1948 Peaks Road, Prospect. Guest, United Gospel Singers, Chase City.

MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE, 11 a.m. sponsored by The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Farmville Chapter 45. Guest speaker, Patrick Schroder, Historian for Appomattox Historical Park. The Sons of the Confederate Veterans High Bridge Camp #1581 will take part in the program. The cemetery is located off North Main Street across the Cumberland bridge. Bring a chair.
JUNE 2
DEDICATION OF HISTORICAL SIGN, 3 p.m. for the Farmville Confederate Cemetery at the entrance to the cemetery off of Route 45. Everyone is welcome.
