I am officially announcing my candidacy for Clerk of the Circuit Court of Buckingham County in the upcoming special election that will be held Nov. 6, to fill the unexpired term of the Honorable Malcolm A. Booker, Jr. I will be appointed interim clerk upon the retirement of Booker, Jr. on July 1. I have worked in the Buckingham Circuit Court for 30 years as Deputy and now as Chief Deputy Clerk under the leadership and supervision of the current clerk.
I have experience in all aspects of the office from working with all financial management, probate, recordings, concealed handgun permits, marriage licenses and case management of civil and criminal records. I have developed an effective working relationship with our judges in the courtroom. I am in the process of implementing the circuit case imaging system in our office.
I have received training and completed certification in all classes offered by the Supreme Court of Virginia and Weldon Cooper Center at University of Virginia. I am an active member of the Virginia Court Clerks’ Association and I am taking classes to be certified through the National Circuit Court Clerks Association.
I am a lifelong resident of Buckingham County. I have been married to Dale L. Blackburn for 45 years, have three children and three grandsons. I look forward to continuing my service to the citizens of Buckingham County as Clerk of the Circuit Court.
