At its Tuesday meeting, the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors was joined by Del. James Edmunds, U.S. Sen. Mark Peake, U.S. Rep. Tom Garrett’s outreach director, Matthew Becker, and Head of Fuqua School John Melton in recognizing Fuqua juniors Irene Thornton and Isaac Drummond for their leadership roles in the 2018 Virginia YMCA Model General Assembly. Thornton was elected to serve as Senate President pro tem, and Drummond was elected to serve as House Speaker pro tem. Additionally, Thornton has been selected by Southside Electric Cooperative to participate in the 2018 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.
