Fitzgerald Memorial Baptist Church located at 14 Fitzgerald Road, Cumberland, would like to welcome everyone on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. to hear Southern Gospel Music at its best featuring “Smokey Wilson” from Concord. Come and join us for a great time in the Lord.
Barry and Linda Miles of Cumberland enjoyed April 15-April 22 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the 20th Annual Southern Gospel Music Singing in the Sunday. They were many of the nation’s top Southern Gospel Groups along with some of America’s greatest preachers. They witnessed 114 people as they came to Christ. What an incredible event, looking forward to 2019.
The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Circuit Courtroom.
The Mount Calvary Baptist Church located 1193 Cartersville Road in Cartersville will be hosting installation services for Pastor Clifford Temple, Jr. on Saturday at 3 p.m. Guest speaker is the Rev. Clifford Temple, Sr., everyone is welcome.
The 2018 annual Cumberland County Patriot’s Day Celebration will be held at the Cumberland County Courthouse on Saturday. The day will begin at 12:30 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Enjoy great food from Fitzgerald Baptist Church serving Brunswick stew, Dukes Football – barbecue chicken and drinks, and Jones Chapel Youth Group – hamburgers and hotdogs. Enjoy corn hole, face painting, Bear Creek Lake State Park exhibit and a fishing game for children. The museum will be open with Gail Timberlake storytelling. The museum has exhibit of U.S. President’s first ladies who were hostesses during their tenure. There will also be some informational tables from civil groups. The Cumberland High School Band will play before the program starts. The program will consist of a skit about the early history of Cumberland including songs from a chorus of children at the elementary school, a soloist and the reading of the Proclamation. Crafts, re-enactments, bouncy house and child programs offered by the Cumberland Masonic Lodge. The Color Guard from Cumberland JROTC will be there with music in the afternoon by “Deep Blue Express.” Make your plans now to join us for this great day of fun for all ages. F

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, will be hosting their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 7, at 5 p.m. at Brown’s Chapel UMC located at U.S Route 15 north of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Road). All members are asked to bring a covered dish for the meal. Following will be the May program featuring Gospel Music Soloist Nancy Fairchild of New Canton. Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. a nonprofit organization serving Buckingham and surrounding counties in helping people in their hour of need will be hosting a benefit fish fry and concert on Saturday evening May 4 at 5 p.m. at Mulberry Grove Baptist Church located at 1095 Mulberry Grove Road, Buckingham.
