Ramon and Phyllis Stafford traveled to Richmond Saturday, March 31, to attend their first great-great grandson’s, Deklan Berkhead’s, one year birthday. There were five generations celebrating.
Both Earth Day, April 22 and Arbor Day, April 27, are celebrated in April and this is the perfect month to plant a tree with your favorite youngster. Plant an oak to provide food for wildlife and shelter for generations to come; plant a dogwood or crepe myrtle to brighten spring and summer days for years to come.
The Woman’s Club of Buckingham County GFWC is making it easy to plant a tree or two by hosting its annual tree giveaway Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Robertson’s Auto Sales on Route 15 near Sprouse’s Corner. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions about planting your new trees. Tree seedlings expected to be available are white, red, Pin and Sawtooth Oaks, dogwoods and crepe myrtles. The Woman’s Club of Buckingham County GFWC is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and membership is open to all Buckingham women.
Those interested are invited to call Club President Mary Lohr at (434) 969-2888 or Membership Chair Sharon Andrews at (434) 315-4231.
The Buckingham County Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual photo contest from April 15-July 30. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded.
