Jan Smith, right, Director of The College Place, is shown receiving a resolution for the Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) from Dr. Cecil Snead, Superintendent of Buckingham County Public School, at the April school board meeting. The school board, high school staff and students presented the resolution to acknowledge the 15-year relationship that they have with ECMC. Over the 15 years, ECMC has pledged over $900,000 to Buckingham students in the form of scholarships, while helping provide resources that has helped to produce a college going culture in the student body. ECMC has also sponsored Buckingham’s annual College Night while providing college access material to not only Buckingham students but also throughout the Commonwealth.
