Brandon White, Student Liaison to the school board, made a presentation to the members of the Cumberland School Board at its meeting held on Monday, Feb. 12. He reported on his experiences at the Virginia School Boards Association Student Leader Workshop, held in Williamsburg in Nov. 2017. He and Ayana Speas, the Senior Class Vice President both attended, where they had the opportunity to meet with other school board student representatives from across the state of Virginia to network. The session was intended to teach life and learning skills to students who were selected to represent the voice of students on the school board. According to Brandon, those participating in the workshop heard various speakers, had an opportunity to work with others on policy making, and to discuss life as a student representative.
