The Farmville Town Council will hold a public hearing Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. during the normally scheduled council meeting regarding the request on behalf of The Woodland Inc. for the abandonment of a portion of Cobb Street, between Dowdy and Agee streets. According to an agenda document, following the public hearing the council may act on the matter.
“At the February meeting, Council approved advertising for a public hearing on the request to abandon Cobb Street, from Agee Street to the right of way of Dowdy Street,” officials cited in the document. “Mr. Preston submitted a letter on behalf of the The Woodland, Inc. requesting the abandonment of Cobb Street, from Agee Street to the right of way of Dowdy Street. The Town will maintain utilities rights and no structures can be built over any town-maintained utilities.”
The document cites that it’s recommended to approve the request on behalf of The Woodland, Inc. for the abandonment of Cobb Street, from Agee Street to the right of way of Dowdy Street, at a cost of $22,528.50, with all fees associated with the transaction paid by the requester and the Town Attorney is to review all documentations of the transaction.
