Meeting set for budget

A public hearing for the proposed 2018 fiscal budget, the proposed 2018 fiscal year tax levies and the 5-Year Capital Improvement Program for Cumberland County will take place April 10 at 7 p.m.
The 2018 fiscal year begins July 1.
Cumberland County administration presented the proposed budget and levies for the 2018 fiscal year as a public notice.
The total proposed budget is $32,518,322, an increase of $1,328,008 compared to the 2017 budget.
For revenues, general property taxes are proposed to reap $9,151,500 for fiscal 2018. This will be an increase of approximately $574,000 from the 2017 budget, which came to $8,577,500.
Revenue from the state, proposed to be $2,555,558 for 2018, is a subtraction of $24,817 from 2017, which came to $2,580,375.
Total revenue from local sources for the proposed 2018 budget comes to $12,499,960, an increase of $826,683 from the $11,673,277 included in the 2017 spending plan.
For expenditures, the grand total general fund expenditures, which include general fund expenditures and transfers to other funds for the proposed 2018 fiscal year budget is set to come to $15,055,518. This will be an $801,864 increase from the 2017 total general fund expenditures, which amounted to $14,253,654.
Levies proposed for the 2018 fiscal year will remain flat. It includes 78 cents per $100 assessed value for real estate and manufactured homes, .78 cents for public service corporations, $4.50 for personal property and $4.50 for emergency services.
