“I’ve been getting thank you notes from our partners and the participants that were involved, and everyone just seemed to have a really good time,” Cooke said. “The weather held out, so that really helped.”
She said she loves how the students are inspired by the event.
“I just had a student come up to me just five minutes ago that said, ‘I would love to help keep building this Habitat house, it’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,’” Cooke said.
Students helped out at FACES Food Pantry, the Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity “Birdhouse Build,” the YMCA, PEFYA Field of Dreams among others, which included picking up litter along highways.
