Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) recently announced the Southside Achievers Guaranteed Admission (SAGA) Program, which enables young men from the southside region of Virginia to take full advantage of the educational opportunity located in their own backyard while creating their own saga at H-SC.

“After completing the application for admission to the college, students who meet certain eligibility requirements will not only be guaranteed admission but will also receive at least $12,000 in academic grants to assist with tuition and fees,” officials said in an H-SC press release. “Candidates who meet the criteria for a higher academic scholarship will receive that stipend in lieu of the SAGA grant.”

The release notes that eligible young men are those who attend a public or private high school in Buckingham, Cumberland, Prince Edward, Nottoway, Amelia, Appomattox, Charlotte or Lunenburg counties and who achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 and score at least 1100 on the SAT or 23 composite on the ACT.

“Students attending home-school are also eligible to benefit from the SAGA Program,” H-SC officials said in the release.
