The Farmville Town Council voted Wednesday night to abandon a portion of Cobb Street, between Dowdy and Agee streets, per request of The Woodland Inc. at a cost of $22,528.50. 

“At the February meeting, council approved advertising for a public hearing on the request to abandon Cobb Street, from Agee Street to the right of way of Dowdy Street,” officials cited in the document. “Mr. Preston submitted a letter on behalf of the The Woodland, Inc. requesting the abandonment of Cobb Street, from Agee Street to the right of way of Dowdy Street. The Town will maintain utilities rights and no structures can be built over any town-maintained utilities.”

Ward A Councilmember Greg Cole abstained from voting due to a conflict of interest. The motion passed unanimously.
