The Town of Farmville will observe Arbor Day on Saturday, March 24 by giving away free tree seedlings. This will take place at the Farmer’s Market building located on North Street from 9am until noon.

The bare-root trees offered this year are white dogwood, red bud and sugar maple. These native trees have been selected for their durability, versatility and beauty. The town purchased the tree seedlings from the Virginia Department of Forestry.

Each year the town is assisted by the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners and the Boy Scouts of America. Both organizations offer critical help in the packaging of the seedlings and providing information on planting and care of the young trees.

Farmville has continued to meet the requirements set forth by the Arbor Day Foundation and is celebrating its 12th year as a Tree City USA.
