A two-vehicle accident led to a closed lane on Cumberland Road Thursday afternoon.

According to Virginia State Trooper C.L. Foster, Nancy Cumbea was heading north in a red Aveo when she came into James Carter’s lane, who was driving in a GMC truck.

He said he swerved to miss her but they hit.

“She ran off road to the left, hit a tree,” Foster said. “He ran off road to the right.”

Foster said Cumbea said she had blacked out. He said no one is seriously injured.
