After a courageous fight with cancer, Jim went peacefully into the loving hands of God on Feb. 5, 2018, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The son of Ruby G. and Calvin Morris, of Buckingham, he is survived by his wife Dottie of 33 years, son James Jr., brother Richard “Billy” and wife Gloria, sisters Carole Jeanne Bowen and husband Paul of DeMossville, KY and Linda Morris of Macon, GA. He also has one granddaughter, Jandi Morris.

He grew up on his parents farm in Buckingham county and graduated from Buckingham High School class of 1960. After high school he joined the Army. His travels and assignments include Germany, Viet Nam, Alaska, Texas, and Washington State. He retired as a First SGT, E-8 after twenty distinguished years of service.

Jim remained active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is a past commander of the Post in Buckingham. He is also a life member of the VFW. His membership in the American Legion was also one of his passions.

After retiring he worked as a Club Manager at Homestead AFB, Florida where he met and married Dottie. At that time he started his business as a disc jockey. His love of music made this his career and evolved into doing karaoke as well.

His contagious smile and humor will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at a later date.
