Farmville artists at MacCallum

The MacCallum More Museum’s Art Exhibition Year kicks off with a bang with an all media show featuring the talents of the members of Central Virginia Arts (CVA).

Twenty-three local CVA artists of Farmville and surrounding counties will exhibit in this all member show. Among others the exhibit will show photography by Shirley Blackwell, Donna McRae Jones, Karla Ellington, Paul Hoffman, 3-dimensional art by Richard McClintock, Lisa Hoffman, Leah Olivier and paintings in all media by Nancy Lockwood, Julie Shields, Marianne Dennison, Deborah McClintock or Ursula Burgess. Many more artists are displaying their diverse and inspiring artwork.

Ursula Burgess, president of CVA, said “We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our artwork in such a fabulous setting outside of Farmville and Hampden-Sydney. The MacCallum More Museum and Gardens in Chase City is a diverse museum with beautiful gardens and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. As a premier cultural center for Southern Virginia, visitors can expect events and displays that are rich in educational, horticultural, historical and artistic value. All shows are free and open to the public.”

The public is invited to join the artists for the Reception on Sunday, 3 – 5 p.m. and vote for the People’s Choice Award. The winning artist will be announced and receive the prize money at the reception. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibition is on display until March 28. The museum is located on 603 Hudgins St. in Chase City.
