Charles Lowry Borum Sr.

Charles Lowry Borum, Sr., 86, of Burkeville, died Feb. 21, 2018, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Burkeville, VA on July 3, 1931 to Richard Asa and Grace Marie Borum, both of who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his sister and her husband, Mary and Raymond Thornhill; and his brother and his wife, Robert Asa and Marie Borum. He is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years Anna May Borum, along with their four sons Charles L. Jr. (Lorraine), William R. (Sara), L. Scott (Laura), Jeffery L. (Lena); one daughter, Sheree L. (Douglas); 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one brother, Tommy (Peggy) and his beloved pets, Ladybug and Kate.
Charles served his country four years in the Navy during the Korean War, retired from People’s Insurance Company after 39 years of service, was a Nottoway cattle farmer, a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and the Scottish Rite of Richmond. He was also a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Jetersville, VA.
The family received friends on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home in Farmville, VA. A funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Burkeville, VA.
