In collaboration with Prince Edward County Public Schools (PECPS), Fuqua School and the Birdhouse Build, Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity is hosting a fundraiser basketball game March 8 at 7 p.m.
According to a press release, the game will feature teams made up of students and staff from both Prince Edward High School and Fuqua School. The event will also showcase a school band featuring members from both PECHS and Fuqua, as well as cheerleaders, concessions, raffles and prizes.
“Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity, in association with Prince Edward and Fuqua School, is hosting the Birdhouse Build, a build site named for the participation of the Prince Edward Eagles and the Fuqua Falcons,” officials said in the press release. “This build is being used as a learning tool for the students, who are learning several of the ins and outs that go into a Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity site…”
“It’s just a really cool way to get more collaboration between the two schools,” said PECPS Family and Community Engagement Liaison Jennifer Kinne.
She said there have been a group of students meeting to work on a T-shirt that will have PECPS, Fuqua and Habitat.
“So that’s been really neat, we’ve had art students that have been working together,” Kinne said. “They’ve come up with a couple designs and then their designs went to our superintendent advisory committee, which is made up of students as well, and they were able to choose the design that they’ve wanted so that’s been really cool because that was completely student led.”
She said a lot of students have also been leading different parts of the fundraiser as well.
