Annual arts and crafts show

The Buckingham County Woman’s Club will hold its annual Arts and Crafts Show again this year. It is open to the members of the club, schools and community. Artists and crafters are invited to join the club for this event. If you are new in the area or just taking up the arts, it is a wonderful time to show your talent in our community. It will be held at the Buckingham Art Center. Submissions for the event will be accepted on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 1-4 p.m. The Open House Reception, which features the works of the members, students and community, will be held Sunday, Feb. 18 from 1-4 p.m. Come by to view the exhibit, meet the artists and crafters, and enjoy light refreshments. The final day of the show will be held Sunday, Feb. 25 from 1-4 p.m. and from 4-5 p.m. Exhibitors will be able to pick up their work. The art categories include oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, needlework, crafts, crochet, quilting, knitting, woodworking and more. There is much to view at the exhibit and the joy of the students having family and friends view their fine work is a joy to behold. It is a wonderful exhibit for all to enjoy. The United Baptist Women’s Missionary and Educational Convention/Banquet celebrating the past, present and future achievements will be held Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Frances Redwood Center at 3 p.m. The theme is “Honoring our Buckingham County Authors,” to include: Minister Rosa Booker, Mary Swann Brown, Marcus Oliver, Michelle Jones Smith, Nancy Brown Smith and Charles White. Each author will have a brief presentation and a book sale/ signing. No tickets will be sold at the door. Attire is African-American colors, to include red, black, green and gold.
