Though Henri Hermans only visited the Town of Farmville for about a week, he is among those who are working to bring Hotel Weyanoke, at the intersection of High and North Streets, into fruition.
Hermans, 27, works for a furniture manufacturer that distributes solid wood furniture.
He said, he spent about a week in Farmville working with Hotel Weyanoke with its furnishing.
Hermans said he had not gotten a chance to explore the town outside of the hotel area, but noted that he enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.
“It’s quiet, but I’m here for work,” Hermans said.
Hermans, who currently lives in New York but originally lived in Belgium, said he travels two weeks out of the month to visit clients, to prospect for new venues and clients and attends trade shows with other furniture manufacturers.
He said he spent the day at the hotel, and after work he explored the town through the area restaurants.
“I’m here from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., go somewhere to eat, then I go to sleep,” Hermans said.
Hermans listed Charleys Waterfront Cafe and Macado’s as restaurants that he visited.
“I (also) ordered pizza and sushi,” Hermans said.
He said positive things about the people he encountered in the town.
“Nice people in Farmville,” Hermans said.
From furnishing work to taking in the area eateries, Hermans said it has been a good experience in the town.
“That’s my week in Farmville,” he said.
