William Joseph ‘Joe’ Troyer

William Joseph “Joe” Troyer, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at his home in Buckingham Co., VA. He was a well-known brick mason, as well as an avid hunter and fisherman. His love of gardening showed in his little “Garden of Eden.” Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Amanda Troyer; a daughter-in-law, Linda Troyer; a great-granddaughter, Adrienne Mast; two brothers; and four sisters. He was a dedicated husband and father who loved his family and his church. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Catherine Troyer; four sons, Julius Troyer, Nelson Troyer (Ellen), Eli Troyer (Barbara) and James Troyer (Vera); three daughters, Sharon Troyer, Linda Troyer and Keren Miller, all of Farmville; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, John, Ezra, Calvin and Lloyd Troyer; two sisters, Alice Miller and Ruth Yoder.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Farmville Mennonite Church, 12199 Francisco Road, Farmville, VA where funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial was in the church cemetery.
