Snow blanketed the Heart of Virginia late Wednesday evening, leaving Wilck’s Lake covered in a layer of snow and ice. The snow, projected to be less than an inch according to a weather map from the National Weather Service, comes following periods of chilly weather that dropped below 20 degrees earlier in the week. The snowfall prompted cancellations of school in Prince Edward, Cumberland and Buckingham on Thursday morning.
